Hypothetics/Bored Marsh/Mantis/The Gonzo Experimental Band

The Garibaldi Hotel, Northampton, 19-21 Bailiff St, , Northampton

Picky New Promotions are pleased to announce the return of our favourite Bristol psych-punk rockers Hypothetics, coming to The Garibaldi Hotel on Fri, Nov 29!

Constantly refining their sound, Hypothetics are revered for their tight rhythmic pockets, cascading electrical melodies and unflinching stage presence. Their debut EP ‘GETS LET DOWN! received extensive attention from BBC Radio 1 as well as Spotify’s editorial playlists, including ‘Hot New Bands’, ‘Post Punk’ and ‘Melomania.’ Hypothetics were included on CLUNK Magazine’s Ones to Watch 2024’ alongside the likes of Opus Kink and Fat Dog, and have also been announced in the first wave of artists heading to Left of the Dial Rotterdam in October. They have recently returned from their pilgrimage to the Isle of Lewis recording their debut album that will hold its own place in the modern music landscape.

“No two shows are the same, there will always be an experiment in how we set up or what we perform. This way the music is as surprising to us as it is to the audience.”

Additionally, we’ve really stacked the lineup on this one! Main support comes from Nottingham-based Bored Marsh, bringing a formidable, reverb-soaked sound with soaring guitars and urgent vocals that rival those of Ian Curtis and Paul Banks. Listen to their latest single, ‘Alright, Ok.’ They release their debut IDIOT UP on 27th Sep and have sold out their release show at Rough Trade Nottingham later this month.

Also supporting are Mantis from Cardiff, Wales, playing in Northampton for the first time! Recently described by a writer as ‘outlaw psychedelia,’ the band bring poetic bilingual (English/Welsh) lyrics, Spaghetti Western, and Eastern influences to their psychedelic rock sound; their reverberating guitar lines are shaped by the Celtic mountains and the band’s rhythms gallop over green hills and into the sky - sometimes with hypnotic intensity, sometimes with more of a folk-rock approach and other times gliding on an ethereal sonic breeze.

Opening are locals The Gonzo Experimental Band, bringing their noise rock-psych music back to the Garibaldi.
